Vice President, Financial Institutions Sales – Africa (Commercial Solutions)

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a senior commercial leader to drive Financial Institution sales across Africa. Based in Johannesburg, the Vice President will lead the development of strategic partnerships with banks to embed Mastercard solutions into corporate and transaction banking offerings and grow commercial payment volumes.

Key responsibilities

• Originating, scaling and monetising strategic FI partnerships across the African region.
• Activating banks as distribution engines for Mastercard’s corporate and B2B payment solutions.
• Working with wholesale, corporate, issuing and correspondent banks to identify new revenue pools and convert opportunities into gross transaction value and net revenue growth.
• Scaling B2B acceptance, commercialising non‑card payment capabilities and shaping product priorities through client insight.
• Driving consistent go‑to‑market execution across multiple African markets.
• Reporting to the SVP, Head of Corporate Solutions EEMEA and collaborating with regional teams.

Required profile

• Established network of senior transaction‑banking leaders across Africa with C‑suite access.
• Deep wholesale/transaction banking background, including corporate banking, cash management, correspondent banking and cross‑border flows.
• Proven ability to lead teams in a matrixed, multi‑country environment.
• Track record of originating, structuring and closing complex FI partnerships across several markets.
• Strong commercial instinct and experience building revenue pools and scaling new businesses.
