Utility 2 Operator (Artisan) – Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Utility ‘2’ Operator (Artisan) to join a forward‑thinking manufacturing team in Port Elizabeth. You will operate and maintain high‑tech production equipment, ensuring consistent quality and output while supporting continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate and maintain Plate Enveloping, COS, Shorts Testing, TTP Welding, Heat Sealing, Leak Testing and Date Coding machines.
• Perform mould changes, machine start‑ups and manage automatic and semi‑automatic Post Burner equipment.
• Maintain cooling water and extraction systems for optimal performance.
• Complete maintenance job cards, production logs, attribute charts and SPC records accurately.
• Take corrective action when quality or production targets are not met.
• Keep all assembly line equipment clean, safe and in good working order.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) and an N4 or equivalent trade qualification as a Fitter, Millwright or Electrician.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an automated factory or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
• Ability to troubleshoot, maintain and optimise automated production equipment.

Required skills

• Operation of Plate Enveloping, COS, Shorts Testing, TTP Welding, Heat Sealing, Leak Testing and Date Coding machinery.
• Experience with automatic and semi‑automatic Post Burner equipment.
• Proficiency in maintaining cooling water and extraction systems.
• Competence in completing maintenance job cards, production logs, attribute charts and SPC records.
