Unit Manager - Obstetrics

About the role

Mediclinic Cape Gate is recruiting a Unit Manager for its Obstetrics unit in Brackenfell, Cape Town. The manager runs a specific nursing unit to ensure safe patient care and a positive client experience, while managing human and other resources so that staff are engaged and processes are optimised. This is a permanent, on-site position.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure safe patient care by meeting set clinical quality standards according to company policies and procedures
• Manage and mitigate clinical risks in the unit
• Lead and manage the staff in the unit
• Manage the unit's operational and capital expenses within financial and budget guidelines and ensure optimal use of resources
• Contribute to a positive client experience in the hospital
• Support the achievement of interdepartmental outcomes
• Manage key stakeholder relations

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification, and either a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management or an accredited management qualification, or 5 years of leadership experience in a hospital; a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing is required if managing a specialist unit such as Perioperative Nursing
• 5 years of professional nurse experience in a hospital
• 2 years of leadership experience in a hospital
• Preference is given to candidates who meet the minimum requirements under the Employment Equity Plan, as well as internal applicants and employees
