Unit Manager – Adult ICU

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Unit Manager to lead the Adult Intensive Care Unit at our Health Group hospital in Mafikeng. The role involves planning, monitoring and coordinating unit operations to ensure high‑quality patient care, managing staff and budgets, and driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and supervise nursing activities, assign tasks, and ensure compliance with SANC regulations and hospital policies.
• Monitor quality standards, risk management, stock levels and equipment maintenance within the ICU.
• Lead and mentor RNs, ENs and support staff, conduct training, performance reviews and resource planning.
• Coordinate patient handovers, conduct ward rounds, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings to optimise patient outcomes.
• Manage the unit budget, implement cost‑saving measures and engage with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Minimum 3 years of managerial or supervisory experience in a critical‑care setting.
• BLS certification; ACLS/PALS/ATLS desirable.
• Diploma or degree in General Nursing and additional qualification in Nursing Administration.
