Travel Specialist

About the role

Our client, a leading Destination Management Company in Southern Africa, is seeking an experienced Travel Specialist to design and coordinate unforgettable travel experiences for inbound international visitors. The role combines itinerary creation, logistics management, and high‑level client service in a fast‑paced tourism environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, quote and manage bespoke travel itineraries throughout Southern Africa.
• Coordinate end‑to‑end reservations, supplier confirmations, travel documentation, vouchers and travel packs.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with international travel agents, clients, suppliers and tour guides.
• Handle client queries, amendments and travel emergencies while delivering exceptional service.
• Manage invoicing, reconciliations, account queries and margin control on client files.
• Negotiate supplier rates and source new tourism experiences and products.
• Maintain up‑to‑date destination knowledge to provide expert travel advice.
• Ensure all bookings are delivered accurately and within agreed service standards.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification; a travel & tourism qualification is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in inbound tourism, preferably within a Destination Management Company, luxury travel or tour operations.
• Proven experience working with international travellers and overseas travel agents.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple itineraries simultaneously.
