Training Centre Manager / General Manager (Startup Leadership Role)

About the role

The client is launching a new Trade Training Centre in the East Rand and needs a seasoned leader to drive the start‑up phase and later manage full operations. This is a hands‑on General Manager position with full P&L responsibility, reporting directly to senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the set‑up of the training facility, including infrastructure, equipment procurement and compliance with QCTO/MERSETA standards.
• Develop and implement curricula for machinist, toolmaker and related trades.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, scheduling, quality assurance and student assessment.
• Manage budgets, financial performance and reporting, ensuring profitability.
• Recruit, coach and lead a multidisciplinary team of trainers, administrators and support staff.
• Build relationships with industry partners, TVET colleges and regulatory bodies.

Required profile

• Red Seal Trade Qualification in Machining, Toolmaking or a related technical trade.
• Minimum 10 years post‑qualification experience with a proven track record in senior leadership roles (e.g., Senior Facilitator, Head of Department, Operations Manager).
• Experience within a TVET College, OEM Technical Academy or accredited private training provider.
• Strong knowledge of QCTO and/or MERSETA frameworks and compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage technical training delivery, scheduling and quality assurance.
• Solid business acumen, budgeting experience and exposure to P&L management.
