Trainee Vehicle Examiner (Roadworthy Testing)

About the role

A client of FS Personnel Recruitment Services is looking for an honest, motivated and mechanically minded person to train as a Vehicle Examiner, responsible for inspecting vehicles for roadworthiness. The position is based in Bloemfontein after training, and suits someone with basic mechanical knowledge who is eager to learn and willing to complete the required training, courses and assessments.

Training arrangements

• The first three months must be spent in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) for training and assessments.
• The company covers all training-related expenses, including travel and accommodation.
• The company funds one return trip to Bloemfontein during the training period to visit family.
• The position is based in Bloemfontein after training.

Required profile

• Gr 10 / Gr 12 qualification.
• Valid EC (formerly Code 14) and A (motorcycles over 250cc) driver's licences, plus own reliable transport (non-negotiable).
• Basic practical mechanical knowledge and experience; a petrol or diesel mechanic qualification is advantageous, and recently qualified candidates are welcome.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Afrikaans.
• Willingness to spend three months away from home for training and to study, follow instructions and complete all assessments.
• No criminal record, as required by traffic legislation for registration as a testing officer.
• Reliable, punctual, honest and attentive to detail.

What is on offer

• Salary of R10 000 basic per month, with a salary increase after successful qualification.
• Standby allowance upon successful qualification.
