Trainee Accountant (SAIPA) – Johannesburg

About the role

We are looking for a motivated SAIPA Trainee Accountant to join our Accounting team in Johannesburg. This position offers a solid foundation in financial reporting, bookkeeping, and tax compliance while providing exposure to client interaction and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and other reports.
• Conduct independent reviews of client accounts to ensure compliance with IFRS for SMEs.
• Bookkeep and process financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
• Support tax compliance activities and assist in completing tax returns.
• Research financial and accounting matters and provide insights.
• Interact with clients, respond to queries, and build professional relationships.
• Stay updated on changes to accounting standards and tax legislation.
• Help with ad‑hoc tasks such as project management, business advisory services, and administrative duties.

Required profile

• Completed B.Com/B.Compt degree – SAIPA/Accounting field.
• New graduate or 1st/2nd year SAIPA trainee.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in Afrikaans and English.
• Analytical, detail‑oriented and able to work under pressure.
• Deadline‑driven, diligent and able to work independently or in a team.
• Keen interest in year‑end duties and preparing annual financial statements.
