TM3 Roofbolter Operator – Underground Mining

About the role

The TM3 Roofbolter Operator is responsible for safely operating a mobile mechanised roofbolter underground, drilling and installing roof bolts according to the mine's drill plan. The role ensures compliance with standard operating procedures, mining regulations and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the TM3 roofbolter to drill bolt holes and install roof bolts as per the roofbolting plan.
• Position safety jacks, test bolt tension, and capture all roofbolt data on the on‑board computer.
• Maintain consumable supplies, water and diesel levels, and report any operational issues.
• Obtain daily work instructions, plan priorities and communicate resource needs to the shift supervisor.
• Conduct regular area inspections, report hazards and recommend remedial actions.
• Provide shift handover information to ensure seamless operations.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / STD 10 or NQF 4 qualification.
• Roofbolter Competency Certificate.
• 1–3 years experience operating a TM3 roofbolter.
• Strong attention to detail, time management and problem‑solving abilities.
