Field Service Technician – Lithium Batteries & Locomotives

About the role

Our client is a well‑established engineering and manufacturing specialist that supplies high‑performance equipment to the mining and industrial sectors worldwide. The role involves delivering field service, maintenance and commissioning for lithium‑battery systems and locomotives, both locally and internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Perform field service, maintenance and fault diagnostics on lithium batteries and locomotives.
• Commission battery systems and locomotives to ensure optimal performance.
• Provide training and hand‑over sessions for clients and on‑site personnel.
• Compile detailed fault and maintenance reports and conduct audits and inspections.
• Travel internationally for service, commissioning and training, and work in the workshop when field work is not required.

Required profile

• Matric qualification.
• Electrical or millwright (red seal) qualification.
• Own transport and a valid driver’s licence.
• Strong leadership, communication and conflict‑management abilities.
• Basic computer literacy.

Required skills

• Electrical or millwright technical qualification.
• Experience with lithium‑battery systems and locomotive equipment.
• Proficiency using hand tools.
• Basic computer literacy.
