Telematics Engineer

About the role

The Telematics Engineer will enhance and expand the existing telematics reporting platform, delivering end‑to‑end technical projects from design through implementation. You will work closely with software developers, DevOps, and supplier teams to turn large data sets into actionable business insights.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and optimise BI dashboards and reports that monitor telematics system performance.
• Extract, analyse and interpret complex engineering and operational data to support decision‑making.
• Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to build and optimise data pipelines and automated reporting workflows.
• Ensure data security, integrity, accuracy and accessibility for cross‑functional users.
• Lead technical telematics projects from conception to delivery, including root‑cause analysis of system issues.
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external supplier teams.

Required profile

• Matric and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field).
• Minimum 3 + years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics or data‑driven projects within an engineering or technology environment.
• Strong project management abilities and a data‑driven problem‑solving mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and translate business needs into technical solutions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AWS QuickSight, Power BI or Tableau.
• Strong SQL knowledge.
• Python programming, including Pandas and NumPy libraries.
• Experience with ETL processes and both relational and non‑relational databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
• Understanding of software engineering principles and best coding practices.
