Data Science & Pricing Graduate

About the role

Houst, a professional management service for properties that helps hosts earn from their listings, is looking for a recent graduate to join its Data team on a contract basis. The role supports data analysis and reporting across all business functions and takes ownership of the pricing algorithm, ensuring the property portfolio is priced effectively and competitively. It is not a graduate programme, but an independent contract aimed at recent graduates.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full data pipeline from data sources, through the BigQuery warehouse and LookML modelling, to business-facing dashboards
• Maintain existing LookML code and develop new data models to meet business needs
• Work with different parts of the business to understand their needs and turn them into data solutions
• Help users build their own dashboards and take ownership where necessary
• Present information using data visualisation techniques
• Own the pricing algorithm: design improvements and work with developers to implement them
• Run live pricing experiments on the property portfolio to evaluate changes
• Identify analysis projects, run statistical analyses and interpret results
• Analyse large amounts of information to find trends and patterns
• Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms, align projects with organisational goals and experiment with new models and techniques

Required profile

• Recent graduate with a BSc or MSc in Data Science, Mathematics or Data Analytics
• Strong prioritisation and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical business users
• Understanding of basic statistical methods, especially hypothesis testing
• Analytical mind, business acumen, strong mathematical knowledge and problem-solving aptitude
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Required skills

• SQL, Python and/or R
• Looker and LookML development (strongly desirable)
• Solid understanding of machine learning
• Data management and visualisation techniques
