Technology Lead, AI & ML (Corporate & Investment Banking)

About the role

Standard Bank Group is looking for a Technology Lead for AI and Machine Learning within Corporate and Investment Banking, based in Johannesburg. The role shapes the bank's AI strategy and drives the creation of AI and ML solutions and projects, while applying deep domain expertise so the bank can be a business and thought leader in its target markets.

Key responsibilities

• Shape the Standard Bank Group AI strategy and drive AI and ML solutions and projects, prioritising new AI initiatives.
• Advise, maintain and implement engineering standards, methods and procedures across the portfolio for a consistent, best-practice approach to end-to-end solutions.
• Work with Platform Owners to make the platform secure and meet service level objectives for availability, reliability and performance, and set up processes to quality-assure all deployed code.
• Conduct quality assurance and approve code against specifications, ensuring applications follow continuous delivery and continuous integration standards.
• Develop the engineering team through training, mentoring and coaching, and encourage cross-skilling and T-shaped skills.
• Share specialist knowledge of the technological landscape to build the team's technical capabilities and a pipeline of expertise.

Required profile

• Masters degree in Information Technology.
• 8-10 years of experience in software engineering, including in the AI and ML area.
