Technician – Cash Processing Equipment Maintenance

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Technician to maintain and optimise cash processing equipment, including banknote and coin counters and sorters, at our Port Shepstone site. The role ensures high equipment uptime, operational efficiency and compliance with quality and ESG standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform hands‑on maintenance, troubleshooting and optimisation of cash processing machines.
• Execute preventative and corrective maintenance plans, conduct daily inspections and early fault detection.
• Diagnose faults, resolve incidents and support the Mechanical Maintenance Manager with sensor analysis and equipment failures.
• Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts to minimise downtime.
• Prepare and submit daily and monthly performance reports, including uptime, downtime and audit documentation.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and support ESG reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of on‑site experience with automated, electro‑mechanical or industrial equipment in a continuous‑operations environment.
• Trade qualification (e.g., Millwright, Electrician, Fitter & Turner) or a National Diploma/NQF Level 5 in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics engineering (advantageous).
• Experience in cash‑processing, banking, manufacturing or other security‑controlled environments is a plus.
• Basic computer literacy (MS Office) for maintenance reporting.
