Technical Training Officer (Fitter & Turner)

About the role

Afrimat Industries (Pty) Ltd, based in Lichtenburg, is looking for a Technical Training Officer (Fitter & Turner) to train, coach and assess learners in technical skills within its training centre. The role covers mentoring apprentices, delivering trade tests and supporting business units on their technical training needs.

Key responsibilities

• Train, coach and mentor learners and actively develop apprentices in your area of responsibility
• Perform assessments and moderations, including final assessments (Trade Tests)
• Provide advice and support to business unit line management on technical training matters
• Help identify engineering training needs across business units and design or customise training interventions and materials
• Develop and present technical training courses and seminars in line with accreditation and legal requirements
• Give expert input on technical training to internal and external forums and take part in accreditation activities
• Ensure compliance with MQA, QCTO, NAMB and ETQA accredited quality assurance systems
• Manage the delivery of training and development programmes and set learner results
• Handle daily course administration and data capture, and deliver service-level agreements to line management
• Keep a professional image of the Afrimat Training Centre and align your work with the company's strategy through regular meetings and feedback

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Fitter and Turner trade certificate (section 13 / 26D)
• NAMB registration as an assessor and moderator
• ETDP Level 3 qualification
• At least 5 years as an artisan in a mining, production or factory environment
• Advantageous: National Diploma in mechanical engineering (N, S or T streams) or N4-N6, and knowledge of English, Afrikaans and Setswana
• Valid driver's licence

Required skills

• Experience conducting trade test assessments
• Experience with learner development best practice
• Strong understanding of workplace safety standards, risk assessments and quality control procedures
