Technical Delivery Lead / IT Project Manager (Banking)

About the role

A leading South African financial services group is looking for an experienced Technical Delivery Lead to own the full lifecycle of complex IT projects within a top‑tier banking environment. This is a 12‑month contract with a strong likelihood of extension, offering the chance to bridge architecture, engineering and business teams.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end delivery of IT projects within agreed scope, budget and timelines.
• Close architecture gaps and produce positioning papers to resolve technical decisions.
• Ensure designs align with architecture roadmaps and act as liaison for integration points.
• Run stand‑ups, operational forums and report on progress, risks and delays.
• Produce weekly and monthly delivery reports and dashboards.
• Manage project governance, risk registers and audit findings.
• Resolve escalated delivery issues, integration conflicts and non‑delivery.
• Ensure adherence to IT change and release governance.
• Manage application health, stability, support and maintenance.
• Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and vendors.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of experience in an IT environment across multiple disciplines.
• Proven experience as a Technical Delivery Lead or managing a technical support team.
• Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF 7); honours or professional qualification advantageous.
• MMP, ITIL or ITSM certification advantageous.
• Strong grasp of SDLC, project management principles and IT governance.
• Excellent stakeholder management and business writing skills.
