System Engineer II – Card Processing & Transaction Switching

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated System Engineer II with strong Level 2 systems engineering experience to support our high‑availability card processing and transaction switching environment. The role combines hands‑on production support, troubleshooting, automation, and implementation within a regulated banking context.

Key responsibilities

• Support and maintain card processing and transaction switching systems.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents in a high‑availability environment.
• Monitor system performance, capacity, and stability.
• Implement system changes, configurations, and integrations.
• Collaborate with vendors and third‑party platforms.
• Support release, change, and rollback processes.
• Contribute to disaster‑recovery readiness and testing.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Provide guidance and support to junior engineers.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience in systems engineering or production support.
• Strong experience in payments systems, card processing environments, or transaction switching platforms.
• Proven record in production support, incident investigation, and system implementation.
• Solid foundation in Linux and/or Windows servers, networking, load balancing, and certificates.
• Experience with SQL, AWS, micro‑services and relational‑database investigation.
• Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, observability, and performance analysis.
• Experience with change, release, post‑implementation validation, and disaster‑recovery support.
• Ability to work in a regulated banking environment and participate in rotational on‑call support.
