System Engineer I

About the role

Capitec is looking for an energetic System Engineer I to support the engineering, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of its server and storage environment. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure reliability, performance and availability of critical banking systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support and maintain server and storage systems in a production environment.
• Monitor system performance, stability and availability.
• Assist with incident investigation, troubleshooting and resolution.
• Configure, implement and upgrade systems, including change and release activities.
• Perform routine maintenance, health checks and accurate technical documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (National Certificate) or a relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology.
• Minimum 2 + years experience in systems engineering, infrastructure or IT support.
• Experience supporting server and/or storage environments and handling production incidents.
• Basic understanding of Windows and/or Linux server administration, networking fundamentals and virtualization concepts.
