System Administrator – eLearning Platforms

About the role

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is seeking a System Administrator to manage and maintain its e‑learning systems, primarily the Learning Management System (LMS) and the MyLearn application.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the LMS, manage user access, provide help‑desk support and resolve system‑related queries.
• Create, develop and monitor digital content for the MyLearn application, supervising content creators and coordinating with subject‑matter experts.
• Collaborate with management to define platform strategies and policies, and produce quarterly reports on user activity, completion rates and system challenges.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders such as the People Development Centre, the Online Academy and other relevant units.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree (NQF level 6 or higher) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field with a focus on e‑learning/systems administration.
• Relevant experience in e‑learning system administration, instructional design, digital content creation and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience working with Moodle or similar LMS platforms.
• Valid driver’s licence, willingness to travel and to work irregular hours when required.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint.
• Project management, organisational and analytical abilities to produce data‑driven system reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and problem‑solving capabilities.
