Trade Support Specialist – FX e‑Trading

About the role

This permanent position in Johannesburg supports FNB's FX e‑Trading platform as a Level 2 production specialist. You will be the primary technical contact for front‑office traders, ensuring smooth pricing, trade execution and data flows across the entire FX stack.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the health of pricing engines, trade execution, booking systems and market‑data feeds, diagnosing and resolving incidents end‑to‑end.
• Provide real‑time support to front‑office users, handling connectivity, credit‑limit and pricing issues.
• Own incident lifecycle, escalating to Level 3 or external vendors when required and communicating status to stakeholders.
• Maintain user access, entitlements and configuration for clients and instruments.
• Support change and release management, including UAT, production readiness checks and post‑release validation.
• Contribute to service‑improvement initiatives by analysing root causes, reducing repeat incidents and driving automation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or Finance.
• 3–5 years of application or production support experience, preferably in FX, electronic trading or financial‑markets technology.
• Experience with incident, problem, change and release management processes.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of FX products (Spot, Forwards, Swaps, NDFs) and the FX trade lifecycle.
• Hands‑on experience with FIX protocol and e‑Trading connectivity.
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, SQL and networking fundamentals.
• Ability to analyse logs, perform scripting and use monitoring/alerting tools.
• Familiarity with platforms such as SmartTrade or comparable FX e‑Trading systems.
