Stock Controller

About the role

Life Groenkloof Hospital is seeking a Stock Controller to manage pharmaceutical and medical supplies across its wards and pharmacy. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the role ensures medication safety, regulatory compliance and financial performance while supporting clinical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain effective medication safety management and report 100% of inventory incidents, implementing remedial actions.
• Conduct quarterly trend analyses of alerts and incidents in collaboration with Pharmacy and Theatre managers.
• Participate in the implementation and compliance of LHC quality management systems and legal standards (SAPC, DOH, LHC).
• Support hospital budgetary targets for pharmacy, ward and theatre stock management.
• Manage product cost of sales, achieve stock targets and optimise system utilisation, including stock reports and month‑end procedures.
• Perform regular stock counts, reconcile differences, sell dead stock and maintain preferred inventory levels.
• Order, unpack and follow up with suppliers, and coordinate month‑end stock procedures.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• 1–2 years of experience in inventory management within a ward or pharmacy environment.
• Knowledge of inventory control processes, procedures and practices.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Computer literacy with attention to detail.
