AKPH Unit Manager – Theatre

About the role

The AKPH Unit Manager will lead the theatre unit at Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital, ensuring high‑quality nursing care and safe patient outcomes. The role combines clinical governance, capacity building, and multidisciplinary team coordination to deliver cost‑effective, evidence‑based services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, cost‑effective patient care aligned with Lenmed’s clinical governance strategy and evidence‑based practice.
• Monitor nursing quality indicators, clinical outcomes and patient experience, and act on stakeholder feedback.
• Communicate effectively with patients about their care and promote health and wellbeing of patients and staff.
• Ensure infection prevention standards and international precautions are strictly followed.
• Lead group quality initiatives and liaise with public liability on risk incidents.

Required profile

• Relevant nursing qualification (B Cur Degree or equivalent) and post‑basic qualification in Theatre.
• 3–5 years experience as a Unit Manager or shift leader in a theatre setting.
• Registration with the SANC and compliance with all health‑care legislation.
• Compulsory BLS certification.
• Advanced computer literacy; knowledge of Kronos is advantageous.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts.
