Stakeholder Relations Practitioner

About the role

The Stakeholder Relations Practitioner will support Impala’s reputation as a responsible corporate citizen by building and maintaining sustainable relationships with local communities, labour unions and other key stakeholders. Working closely with HR, the General Manager and the Stakeholder Engagement team, the role ensures community interests are integrated into operational decisions and development initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with HR to prioritize local community members for employment and verify candidate documentation.
• Assist the General Manager in delivering the annual community development plan and accompany on community initiatives.
• Engage recognised community leaders (RLM & RBN) to foster effective relationships and identify capacity‑building needs.
• Identify community needs and risks, refer requests to the donations committee, and liaise with pressure groups.
• Coordinate all stakeholder‑engagement activities, maintain accurate records and minutes, and report at weekly and monthly meetings.
• Support waste‑reduction, productivity and cost‑saving initiatives within the scope of stakeholder engagement.
• Participate in change‑management projects, safety meetings and ensure compliance with mine safety regulations.

Required profile

• Grade 12/NQF 4 or equivalent; HR, Communications, Public Relations or Community Development Diploma/Degree (NQF 6/7) required.
• 3–4 years of experience in HR, communications or stakeholder‑engagement functions.
• Knowledge of local community structures (RLM & RBN), geopolitics, socio‑economics and the Mining Charter III.
• Understanding of the Social & Labour Plan and company departmental functions.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
