Stakeholder Engagement Manager – Southern Africa & Indian Ocean

About the role

The Stakeholder Engagement Manager will serve as ICANN’s primary representative across Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean region. Based in South Africa, the role combines diplomatic, analytical and outreach expertise to advance ICANN’s strategic and operational objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and execute stakeholder engagement activities with governments, academia, business, legal communities and non‑commercial interests across the region.
• Support the Global Stakeholder Engagement team in developing, implementing and refining the ICANN Africa Regional Engagement Plan.
• Facilitate participation in the Coalition for Digital Africa program in collaboration with the Coalition Secretariat.
• Monitor and analyse Internet‑related policy developments, trends and their impact on regional strategy.
• Produce reports, position papers and communications that translate regional insights into ICANN’s global strategy.
• Engage in regional and international Internet governance dialogues and negotiate resolutions amid conflicting stakeholder views.
• Maintain disciplined communications and reporting between the region and ICANN headquarters.

Required profile

• Strong diplomatic and analytical abilities with experience in multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Proven track record in outreach, community engagement and public policy analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear reports and position papers.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate across internal and external partners.
