SQL Database Administrator – 2‑Year Fixed‑Term

About the role

The City of Tshwane is seeking a Database Administrator (SQL) on a two‑year fixed‑term contract. The role involves installing, configuring, administering, monitoring and securing enterprise database environments to ensure high availability, performance, integrity and security of organisational data.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and optimise SQL Server database environments to ensure secure, reliable and efficient operations.
• Monitor performance, availability and capacity, implementing improvements to guarantee uninterrupted services.
• Implement and maintain database security, backup, recovery and high‑availability solutions to protect data and support business continuity.
• Ensure compliance with governance standards, support application integration and drive continuous improvement of database technologies.

Required profile

• Three‑year tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree) in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
• At least three years’ experience administering Microsoft SQL Server or equivalent enterprise database platforms.
• Valid Code B driving licence.
• Willingness to undergo a criminal record check and provide fingerprints at own cost.

What we offer

• Salary range: R651 590,00 – R892 565,00 per annum (estimated remuneration package).
• Fixed‑term contract of two years.
