Specialty Doctor – Ophthalmology (Fixed‑Term, 12 months)

About the role

The Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology will join the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for a 12‑month fixed‑term appointment. Working full‑time (40 hours per week) the role supports the department’s comprehensive eye‑care services and its active teaching programme.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a full range of general ophthalmology services, including outpatient clinics, investigations and procedures.
• Participate in the department’s teaching activities for junior doctors and medical students.
• Contribute to departmental goals and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to NHS Scotland policies.

Required profile

• Full registration with a licence to practise issued by the General Medical Council, in place before the start date.
• Demonstrated experience in all aspects of general ophthalmology.
• Ability to work full‑time in a hospital setting for the 12‑month period.
