Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology (Fixed‑term)

About the role

We are seeking a Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology to join the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for a 12‑month fixed‑term appointment. The role is full‑time (40 hours per week) and starts on 5 August 2026, offering exposure to the full spectrum of ophthalmic services and an active teaching environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive General Ophthalmology care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Participate in the department’s teaching programme for junior doctors and medical students.
• Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve departmental objectives.

Required profile

• Full registration with a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC) prior to start date.
• Demonstrated experience in all aspects of General Ophthalmology.
• Commitment to NHS values and to promoting equality and diversity.
