Specialist Architect

About the role

The Specialist Architect will shape and govern the enterprise IT architecture across the organisation, ensuring that technology choices align with business strategy and support agility, scalability and security.

Key responsibilities

• Define, maintain and evolve the enterprise architecture framework, standards and road‑maps.
• Collaborate with business units and IT teams to translate strategy into concrete solutions.
• Design and document current (as‑is) and future (to‑be) architecture states.
• Provide architectural oversight for all IT projects, ensuring compliance with enterprise standards.
• Identify emerging technologies and evaluate their potential impact.
• Lead solution design reviews, impact assessments and technology evaluations.
• Define integration strategies for cloud and on‑premise environments.
• Support procurement and RFP processes with technical and architectural input.
• Work closely with infrastructure, data, application and security teams to ensure cohesive and compliant solutions.
• Participate in governance forums, architectural reviews and change advisory boards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field (NQF Level 7).
• Minimum 8 years of IT experience, including at least 5 years as a Solution or Specialist Architect.
• At least 5 years of hands‑on experience with AWS, Azure and on‑premise implementations.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Experience in banking or financial services is preferred.
• Relevant architecture certifications such as TOGAF or SABSA.
