Software Engineer

About the role

Systems Services Group is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Gqeberha team. The role involves hands‑on development, maintaining and enhancing a portfolio of business applications across Microsoft and open‑source technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and support existing production applications.
• Fix bugs and perform routine enhancements based on business needs.
• Develop and customise Microsoft 365 portals and SharePoint sites.
• Contribute to web front‑end work using JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Support Linux‑based LAMP applications and perform server‑side debugging.
• Develop lightweight Android apps for industrial scanners and integrate barcode hardware.
• Assist with basic EDI data exchange and document mapping.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on software development experience.
• Relevant ICT qualification (diploma or degree).
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
• Strong problem‑solving and debugging capabilities.
