Software Engineer – Automation, Simulation & Multi-Machine Control

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer to develop, integrate, test and optimise advanced automation, simulation and multi‑machine control systems for NOV's drilling and industrial equipment platforms. You will work on both virtual simulation environments and live machine control systems that support mission‑critical operations worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, configure, modify and troubleshoot PLC software for automation and multi‑machine control.
• Debug and optimise machine control logic, sequencing and overall automation performance.
• Configure PLCs for both simulation and live environments and maintain simulation platforms for testing, validation and training.
• Perform system‑level integration, testing, commissioning and customer acceptance activities.
• Diagnose and resolve automation, communication and process‑related issues across interconnected systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or Marine Engineering.

Required skills

• Strong experience with industrial automation and machine‑control integration.
• Advanced PLC programming and troubleshooting using Siemens TIA Portal and Siemens S7 PLCs.
• Proficiency with Beckhoff TwinCAT / Structured Text.
• Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs.
• Knowledge of simulation software and virtual testing environments.
• Understanding of industrial communication networks and protocols.
• Familiarity with GitHub or other version‑control systems.
• Basic knowledge of C++ (beneficial).
