Software Development Manager – Cash Devices

About the role

Capitec Bank is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager – Cash Devices to lead teams responsible for cash‑device technology platforms, terminal applications, integrations and operational delivery. This strategic technical leadership role requires deep ATM and transaction‑processing expertise to provide technology direction, manage vendor relationships, ensure system stability, availability and security, and develop high‑performing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multiple ATM technology delivery teams responsible for applications and services.
• Drive solution design, architecture governance, engineering standards and delivery quality.
• Ensure system availability, performance, resilience and security across a critical banking channel.
• Oversee software development, enhancements, maintenance and production support.
• Lead major incident management, root‑cause analysis and recovery activities.
• Build and develop high‑performing technical delivery teams through coaching and mentoring.
• Manage vendor relationships, technical roadmaps and delivery outcomes.
• Partner with product, technology and business stakeholders to deliver strategic objectives.
• Translate the strategic product roadmap into executable delivery plans, release forecasts and team‑level priorities.
• Lead agile planning practices, converting prioritized business features into delivery‑ready epics and user stories.
• Drive engineering best practices including secure coding, code reviews, CI/CD and production readiness.

Required profile

• 8+ years of direct ATM domain experience.
• Proven experience within ATM delivery, support and operational environments.
• Strong technical delivery leadership experience in banking or financial services.
• Demonstrated ability to build high‑performing technical delivery teams through coaching, mentoring and succession planning.
• Experience leading technical teams in an agile delivery environment and translating strategic roadmaps into delivery plans.
• Experience managing critical production systems and high‑availability platforms.
• Knowledge of production resilience and security practices such as incident management, root‑cause analysis, disaster recovery, PCI DSS and encryption standards.

Required skills

• ATM technologies (transaction lifecycle, application architecture, device integrations, estate management).
• Experience with NCR SelfServ, Diebold Nixdorf, GRG, Hyosung platforms.
• Proficiency with NCR AANDC/NDC/NDCe, Diebold Agilis/VCP.
• Postilion ATM Switching, terminal drivers, ISO8583 messaging and configuration.
• API integrations, enterprise integration patterns, architecture governance.
• Secure coding practices, CI/CD principles, technical design and code reviews.
• Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, scaled agile), release planning and capacity management.
