Software Developer

About the role

A leading steel company is looking for eager, fast-learning software developers who act as the brains behind the design, installation, testing and maintenance of its software systems. The position is based in Pretoria, with training provided in the Netherlands. Candidates will own several IT projects and develop new and existing software.

Key responsibilities

• Develop complex business information systems (the Easy Framework) and machine, robot and vision systems, both high-level and embedded.
• Build applications using C#, C++, VB and SQL and other development tools.
• Work with a team of developers in Europe and South Africa.
• Analyse requirements, model software, test and ensure quality, and support, maintain and document software.
• Integrate new software with existing systems and evaluate new technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in software development or equivalent practical experience.
• Mechanical or electrical engineering qualification, trained to program.
• Good spoken and written English and Afrikaans.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C#, C++, VB and SQL.
• Ability to learn the latest software development tools.
