Skilled Operator (Production)

About the role

We are seeking a Skilled Operator to join Nestlé’s Mossel Bay factory. The role focuses on ensuring optimal performance of the filling and packaging line, maintaining product quality, and complying with safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the line and perform changeovers of filling equipment for different product sizes.
• Assist the Line Fitter in setting up machines such as fillers, seamers, cappers, labelers, collators/shrink wrappers, and de‑palletizers.
• Calibrate scales, operate filling and packaging equipment, and ensure all machine parts are intact at start‑up.
• Monitor net mass, make adjustments to meet tolerance and output targets, and report deviations.
• Conduct OPRP checks on vibratory feeders, X‑Ray machines, and record results.
• Capture production data in DMO and SAP, including stoppages, hourly outputs, and material declarations.
• Drive forklift, attend MDWT meetings, train new operators, and act as team leader when required.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• At least 1 year of production experience.
• Valid forklift licence.
