Site Manager – Painting (Industrial Coatings)

About the role

The Site Manager – Painting oversees the planning, execution, and quality control of industrial painting projects across petrochemical, power generation, water infrastructure and other industrial environments. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will ensure safe, efficient, and specification‑compliant coating work on site.

Key responsibilities

• Manage surface preparation and coating activities, including abrasive blasting, ultra‑high pressure water jetting and mechanical cleaning.
• Coordinate labour, equipment, materials and access requirements, ensuring alignment with project schedules.
• Supervise scaffolding, containment, and resource allocation for blasting and painting operations.
• Monitor coating thickness, curing conditions, environmental readings and hold points to guarantee compliance.
• Provide technical leadership on corrosion protection systems for tanks, pipelines, ducts, structural steel and concrete.
• Oversee application of epoxy, glass‑flake, polyurethane, zinc‑rich and other specialized industrial coatings.
• Conduct visual inspections, record preparation and coating data, and liaise with client inspectors.

Required profile

• Extensive technical expertise in industrial coating systems and surface preparation.
• Proven experience in managing large‑scale painting projects within petrochemical, power or water sectors.
• Strong knowledge of ISO/SANS standards and coating manufacturer requirements.
• Ability to lead teams, plan resources and resolve technical challenges on site.
