Painting Supervisor

About the role

The Painting Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager and leads the execution of industrial painting projects. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high‑quality coating work across petrochemical, power generation, water infrastructure, and other industrial environments.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate surface preparation and coating activities, including ultra‑high pressure water blasting, abrasive blast cleaning, and mechanical hand/power‑tool cleaning.
• Supervise the application of epoxy, glass‑flake, polyurethane, zinc‑rich, and other specialized industrial coatings.
• Monitor coating thickness, curing times, environmental conditions, and inspection hold points to meet project specifications and ISO/SANS standards.
• Organise labour, equipment, materials, scaffolding, and access requirements to keep projects on schedule.
• Provide technical guidance on corrosion protection systems for tanks, pipelines, ducts, structural steelwork, and concrete surfaces.
• Assist operational teams in resolving coating failures, technical challenges, and quality concerns.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising industrial painting or coating projects in a petrochemical, power, or water‑infrastructure setting.
• Strong understanding of surface preparation standards, coating manufacturer requirements, and relevant quality standards.
• Ability to plan and manage resources, schedules, and safety procedures on‑site.
