Short Term Insurance Underwriter – Commercial & Personal Lines

About the role

A prominent financial services provider is seeking an experienced Short Term Insurance Underwriter to join its dynamic team in George, Western Cape. The role focuses on underwriting both commercial and personal lines, ensuring accurate quoting, policy issuance, and renewals.

Key responsibilities

• Service commercial and personal insurance portfolios, including quoting, underwriting, and renewal of policies.
• Apply and manage policy wording such as Mutlimark III.
• Utilise insurance corporate management systems while maintaining compliance under pressure.

Required profile

• Minimum matriculation; tertiary qualification advantageous.
• At least 5 years’ experience in financial services, with a minimum of 3 years underwriting commercial and personal lines.
• Bilingual proficiency in Afrikaans and English (spoken, read, written).
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Santam Policy Centre system usage.
• Knowledge of Mutlimark III policy wording.
• RE5 financial certification (advantageous).
• Proficiency with the full MS Office suite.
• Experience with insurance corporate management systems.
