Shift Miller – Grain & Flour Production

About the role

The Shift Miller oversees the entire milling process during an assigned shift in a grain or flour manufacturing facility. This critical operational role ensures production of high‑quality products that meet customer specifications while maintaining equipment availability and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage asset performance to achieve production targets, minimise equipment downtime and control milling costs.
• Maintain inventory levels for finished products, consumables, vitamins and additives, and eliminate manufacturing losses.
• Drive continuous improvement, achieve zero write‑offs and meet targeted production efficiencies.
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance, health & safety, environmental and food‑safety regulations.
• Implement Good Manufacturing Practices, monitor product quality and reduce customer complaints.
• Lead and train staff, maintain high morale and improve plant availability.
• Achieve design capacity operation with milling downtime below 0.5 % of total hours.

Required profile

• Qualified wheat and/or maize miller (preferred) with SAGMA/GMF trade certification.
• Knowledge of grain insect fumigation and its management.
• Approximately 5 years of experience in wheat‑milling operations, willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Strong leadership, analytical and decision‑making abilities, and excellent communication in English.
