SHEQ Coordinator

About the role

Minopex is looking for a SHEQ Coordinator to implement, maintain and continuously improve the Sedibeng site's Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management System (SHEQMS). The role ensures legal compliance with applicable legislation and client-specific requirements, and is based in Sedibeng, Northern Cape.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the SHEQMS on site, keeping documentation up to date and submitting required reports
• Enforce legal compliance, including the right to stop unsafe work, and coordinate legal appointments
• Oversee risk assessments (baseline, IBRA and continuous), maintain a risk register and ensure hazard mitigation measures are effective
• Inspect plant, equipment and workplace conditions, and take part in internal and external SHEQ audits
• Manage incident investigations, including injury reporting and root cause analysis, and follow up on driver corrective actions
• Check that contractor SHE files are compliant before granting site access and monitor contractors throughout the project
• Develop, review and approve site-specific SHEQ procedures and ensure document control follows the SHEQMS
• Track SHEQ objectives, KPIs and targets, and report on performance

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification, including relevant NATED courses such as N3 Certificate
• National Diploma in Safety Management or related SHEQ qualification
• Health and safety management certification (e.g. SAMTRAC, COMSOC, NEBOSH)
• Incident investigation competency (e.g. ICAM, RCAT) and risk management (HIRA)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an operational environment

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of MHSA, OHSA and relevant SANS/ISO standards
• MS Office computer literacy
• Presentation and report writing skills
• Training: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001
