Service Technician

About the role

Wärtsilä is seeking a Service Technician to join its field service team in Cape Town. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing Wärtsilä products, ensuring high‑quality mechanical work, and supporting customer satisfaction across marine and energy applications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair tasks on Wärtsilä equipment.
• Execute assignments given by the Field Service Team Leader.
• Use and maintain shop and field tools according to best mechanical practices.
• Prepare and submit parts requisitions as needed.
• Maintain accurate time sheets and expense records for invoicing.
• Ensure professional appearance and conduct while adhering to ISO procedures and warranty cost targets.
• Care for specialty tools and submit high‑quality service reports within 48 hours of job completion.
• Promote Wärtsilä products and services and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and ad‑hoc duties as required.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
• Willingness to work onsite in Cape Town and travel to customer sites.
• Commitment to safety, quality standards, and professional conduct.
