Senior Site Engineer – Luxury Villa Construction, Cape Town

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Senior Site Engineer to lead the construction of a high‑end luxury villa in Cape Town. You will act as the primary bridge between our remote design team and the on‑site execution, ensuring the project meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and budgetary control.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all on‑site activities, ensuring compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections, promptly addressing safety or quality issues.
• Ensure construction follows approved plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager and Head of Construction to manage schedules, resources, and material procurement.
• Maintain rigorous quality‑control processes to uphold the design’s craftsmanship.
• Monitor site‑level expenses, identifying cost‑effective solutions without compromising quality.
• Coordinate subcontractors, skilled labour, and on‑site teams to sustain workflow and resolve challenges.
• Step in for the Head of Construction when required, attending meetings and contributing to key decisions.
• Serve as the main point of contact between the construction site and the wider project team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture; postgraduate studies in Construction Management preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in construction site roles (e.g., Inspector, Project Engineer, Site Supervisor, Construction Manager).
• At least three full‑cycle projects completed in South Africa, ideally in tourist regions.
• Proven track record in luxury villa or high‑end residential construction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve technical and logistical challenges on site.
• Strong knowledge of South African building codes, regulations, and construction practices.
• Fluent English for communication with international management and site teams.
