Senior Server Engineer – Infrastructure Operations

About the role

This senior position sits within the Infrastructure Operations team and is responsible for designing, administering, supporting and continuously improving the organisation's server and infrastructure platforms. The role focuses on Windows and Linux environments, enterprise storage, virtualization and cloud integration while driving automation and Infrastructure as Code practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain and troubleshoot enterprise server, virtualization and storage environments to ensure high availability and performance.
• Administer Windows Server and Linux platforms, including installation, patching, monitoring and security hardening.
• Develop and maintain automation, scripting and IaC solutions to streamline operations and support DevOps practices.
• Manage virtualised infrastructure, Active Directory, identity and access services, and enterprise messaging platforms.
• Lead cloud transformation initiatives, including migrations, hybrid integrations and cloud‑native deployments.
• Provide advanced technical troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and after‑hours support for critical incidents.
• Ensure compliance with change‑management, governance and project delivery methodologies.
• Document standards, procedures and knowledge repositories, and identify opportunities for modernization.

Required skills

• Microsoft Windows Server administration.
• Linux operating systems (Ubuntu, Red Hat, Solaris).
• Scripting languages: PowerShell, Python, Bash.
• Virtualisation platforms: VMware (VCP certified preferred).
• Cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services.
• Enterprise storage technologies, especially NetApp SAN.
• Hardware experience with Dell, HPE, Cisco platforms.
• Active Directory, identity and access management.
• Infrastructure as Code and automation tools.
