Senior Project Manager – IT Technical Projects

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned IT Technical Project Manager to lead large‑scale, mission‑critical initiatives for a leading South African financial services organisation. The role will drive core system modernisation and shape the future technology landscape within a highly regulated insurance environment.

Key responsibilities

• Drive core system modernisation and legacy platform replacement projects.
• Ensure delivery aligns with business strategy, IT architecture and regulatory requirements.
• Embed strong governance, risk management and delivery discipline across programmes.
• Enable collaboration between technology teams, business units and external partners.

Required profile

• Honours Degree (NQF 8) in a relevant field; Master's degree preferred.
• Recognised project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
• 8‑10 years of experience leading complex IT or engineering projects.
• 5+ years in a senior Technical Project Manager, Programme Manager or Delivery Lead role.
• Experience in financial services, preferably short‑term insurance.
• Hands‑on involvement with core insurance platform implementations such as Guidewire, Duck Creek or Sapiens.
• Proven success delivering legacy modernisation or core platform re‑platforming.
