Senior Project Manager – Engineering

About the role

The Group Corporate Projects team of a large JSE‑listed organisation in Johannesburg North is seeking a natural leader to manage complex, multi‑disciplinary engineering projects. You will drive projects from concept through delivery, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate capital budgeting and align project definitions with organisational strategy.
• Lead projects through pre‑feasibility, feasibility, design, execution and close‑out phases.
• Define requirements, scopes, schedules and cost estimates in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Develop execution strategies (in‑house, semi‑turnkey, turnkey) based on risk, resources and investment appetite.
• Maintain project documentation, controls and monitoring systems for on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
• Oversee risk assessments, HAZOPs and constructability reviews, ensuring proper documentation.
• Report progress, costs, schedules and risks to committees and integrated business planning forums.
• Manage a portfolio of local and potential international projects, including budgets and resource plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing multiple engineering projects of varying complexity.
• Strong ability to engage internal and external stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of engineering deliverables across all project phases.
• Experience with capital budgeting, risk mitigation and governance processes.

• FIDIC contract standards
