Senior Preparatory Teacher: Afrikaans and Mathematics

About the role

Reddam House Durbanville, part of Inspired Education, is looking for a Senior Preparatory Teacher to teach Grade 5 to 7 in Afrikaans and Mathematics. The school is co-educational, non-denominational and private, offering a dual curriculum (Cambridge Assessment International and IEB) from 18 months to 19 years old, with boarding and day schooling.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons for Grades 5 to 7 in Afrikaans and Mathematics
• Create a nurturing, engaged learning environment and promote student well-being
• Teach extra lessons on two afternoons per week when required
• Produce high-quality teaching resources
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice, and take part in personal and school-wide professional development
• Set and mark exams and other student evaluations, and write report comments
• Respond to parent e-mails and calls within 24 hours
• Attend special occasions at the discretion of the Head, and carry out other reasonable tasks assigned by the School Head or line manager

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years' experience teaching students in a preparatory school
• Previous experience in an international school
• University degree and certified teaching status
• Appropriate right to work
• Commitment to student development, excellent organisational skills and a positive attitude to change

Required skills

• Confidence using ICT in teaching
• Experience with the Cambridge curriculum is an advantage
