Music Teacher (Grade 1-9)

About the role

Reddford House Northcliff, part of Inspired Education, is looking for a Music Teacher for Grades 1-9. The school sits on the Northcliff Ridge in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg, with two-storey Senior Preparatory and College buildings that include performing and creative studios for music, dance, drama and art. The teacher is expected to take a holistic view of students and promote their progress and well-being.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and present interesting and engaging music lessons
• Create a nurturing, engaged learning environment and motivate students to reach their potential
• Behave professionally regarding punctuality, standards of work and homework
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice, and take part in personal and school-wide professional development
• Teach extra lessons on two afternoons per week when required
• Produce high-quality resources for students
• Respond to parent e-mails and calls within 24 hours
• Set and mark exams and other student evaluations, and write report comments
• Attend special occasions at the discretion of the Head of School and carry out other reasonable tasks assigned by the school head or line manager

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years' experience working with students in a school
• College experience in music
• University degree in an appropriate subject
• Certified teaching status and appropriate right to work
• SACE registered with current annual membership

• Confidence using ICT in teaching
• Excellent organisational skills and a positive attitude to change
