Senior Manager – Market Intelligence & Commercial Performance

About the role

The position is based in Isando, Johannesburg and reports to senior leadership of an international manufacturing business. The Senior Manager will turn market, customer and commercial intelligence into profitable business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Establish market size, demand, growth, market share, competitor capacity, pricing and routes to market across priority markets.
• Quantify customer share of wallet and identify whitespace opportunities, competitor penetration, unmet needs and retention risks.
• Analyse customer, product, market and channel profitability to identify where value is being created, lost or placed at risk.
• Identify and quantify pricing and margin leakage, including the impact of discounts, rebates, product mix, exceptions and cost changes.
• Translate market and financial analysis into commercially sound recommendations and business cases.
• Determine where the business should grow, protect, fix, reprice or exit across markets, customers and product portfolios.
• Identify and prioritise commercial opportunities based on expected contribution, probability, risk, investment and timing.
• Lead commercial performance reviews, interrogate performance gaps and ensure agreed actions are driven to measurable financial outcomes.
• Constructively challenge commercial assumptions and influence senior sales and business stakeholders using evidence and sound commercial judgement.
• Improve the quality and integrity of commercial information across sales, finance and related functions.
• Implement and govern CRM standards, adoption and data quality.
• Oversee website performance as a commercial channel, including customer enquiries, content and conversion measurement.
• Manage internal resources and specialist suppliers against agreed intelligence, CRM, website and reporting priorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
• Relevant experience in market intelligence and commercial performance analysis.

• Salary up to R140,000 per month (approximately R1,680,000 per year), depending on experience.
