About the role
Standard Bank Group is hiring a Senior Legal Advisor for its Global Markets division of the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) unit, based in Johannesburg. The role implements strategic objectives to achieve legal outcomes, with a particular focus on supporting the markets-financing business, and provides legal advice to stakeholders on complex matters in line with the bank's standards and requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Implement strategic objectives to drive legal outcomes, focusing on the markets-financing business within Global Markets.
- Provide legal advice to stakeholders on complex matters, adhering to the bank's standards and requirements.
Required profile
- LLB degree in Law and admission as an attorney.
- 8-10 years of proven experience advising on the drafting, vetting, review, dissemination and negotiation of complex legal documentation and processes, and identifying and mitigating legal risks.
- 8-10 years as a lead lawyer on transactions under ISDA and GMRA documentation, bonds, loans and structured financing.
- At least 8 years of experience in the legal or financial sector.
Required skills
- Knowledge of the financial industry regulatory framework and legal compliance.
- Legal research and policy development.
- Risk awareness and strategy definition.
