Senior Lecturer – Center for the Future of Work

About the role

The University of Pretoria invites applications for a Senior Lecturer position within its Centre for the Future of Work, a transdisciplinary research hub focused on the evolution of work across Africa. The role combines teaching, research leadership, and engagement with industry and policy stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and execute research projects on future‑of‑work topics.
• Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses and develop curricula.
• Manage research strategy, industry collaborations, and policy engagement.
• Supervise Master’s and PhD students and mentor junior researchers.
• Contribute to departmental strategic initiatives, community outreach, and fundraising.
• Publish scholarly work in accredited academic journals.

Required profile

• Doctorate in one of the listed specialisations (e.g., Biomedical Engineering, Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Industrial Psychology) or a closely related field.
• At least three years of tertiary teaching experience or equivalent industry/applied research experience.
• Minimum of two accredited publications or comparable scholarly outputs.
• Experience supervising postgraduate research or mentoring researchers in an applied setting.
• Demonstrated professional engagement and a strong capacity for transdisciplinary research.
