Senior General Manager – Northern Cape

About the role

Our client, a leading mining house operating a large‑scale open‑pit operation in the Northern Cape, is seeking a Senior General Manager to provide strategic leadership and operational direction for the mine. The role carries full accountability for performance, safety, sustainability and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans, translating corporate strategy into operational programmes.
• Lead all mining activities to meet production, safety and cost targets while optimising asset utilisation.
• Ensure compliance with mining legislation, MHSA responsibilities and POPIA as Delegated Information Officer.
• Manage financial planning, capital allocation and large operational budgets to drive profitability.
• Build and maintain relationships with organised labour, government, communities and industry partners.

Required profile

• BTech or Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Geology or related field (NQF Level 7); postgraduate qualification advantageous.
• Minimum 15 years mining experience, including at least 5 years in senior executive leadership of large open‑pit operations.
• Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (MMCC) or Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) and medically fit.
• Proven track record in strategy execution, financial leadership and stakeholder engagement.
