Operations Manager - Renewable Energy

About the role

A leading renewable energy company is looking for an experienced Operations Manager in Brooklyn, Pretoria. The role oversees daily operations from installation through to aftercare, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. It acts as a key link between field teams and senior leadership, driving operational efficiency and removing roadblocks across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage the operational budget (OPEX) while protecting profit margins, monitor spending and approve purchases within authority limits.
• Ensure sites and vehicles comply with OHS regulations, lead safety training, investigate incidents and enforce safety protocols.
• Apply Lean and/or Six Sigma methods to reduce waste and streamline workflows; improve route planning and fleet utilisation.
• Set and manage quarterly operational goals and oversee maintenance contractors.
• Lead, mentor and manage direct reports, including recruitment, performance management and reviews.
• Coordinate equipment, vehicles and staff across departments and work with Sales, Marketing and Finance.

Required profile

• Post-matric qualification in a relevant field preferred.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in operations management, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is advantageous, or willingness to obtain it within 12 months.
• Strong financial acumen, knowledge of OHS regulations, and proven people leadership experience.

Required skills

• Operational planning, process improvement and workflow optimisation.
• Data analysis, route planning, fleet utilisation and process mapping.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, able to work under pressure.
